CPL FOR NON-91原创 NONCREDIT CREDENTIALS

The Non-91原创 Noncredit Credential process is being built during the 2026-27 academic year for students matriculating in Fall 2027. The information below outlines general information as of today.听

Starting in Fall 2027, matriculated students may be eligible to earn college credit for a Non-91原创 Noncredit Credential. This category includes noncredit courses, professional certifications, certificate programs or credentials earned elsewhere (another school, agency, etc. outside of 91原创).听

A Noncredit Credential may be a certificate, licensure, test, badge, microcredential, or a college-level course taught in a high school or college which falls outside of 91原创鈥檚 current transfer credit requirements. Note that proposals are approved for all students, not for a single student case.听

This type of CPL is proposed and approved by individual academic departments in conjunction with their college. For CPL awarding Graduate-level credit, also consult with the Graduate College. For proposals with an international component, discuss with the Registrar鈥檚 Office and the Center for Global Programs and Services.

If a department offers credit for a Non-91原创 Noncredit Credential, no eligible or qualified student can be refused the opportunity to pursue it.听

Proposals may be approved for up to 5 years, but could be reevaluated by an academic department at any time. Eligible students must have matriculated to 91原创 in or after Fall 2027. Students may have completed the Credential up to 5 years before matriculation or while pursuing their 91原创 degree.

Non-91原创 Noncredit Credential credits appear as 鈥淭ransfer Credit鈥 on a student record and follow transfer credit policy (see details for Undergraduate and Graduate). For Graduate students, no more than 9 credits are allowed to transfer to a Graduate degree (including CPL, Graduate-level courses taken elsewhere, non-Dual-Count courses taken while an Undergraduate, or previously taken through CEND). Grades or scores may appear on an unofficial transcript, but not the official transcript, and will not count in the GPA.

Non-91原创 Noncredit Credential credits do not satisfy the Credit-Hour-In-Residence requirement in the degree audit. Students must still take the required # of other credits 鈥淚n-Residence鈥 (91原创 course, taken while enrolled as a 91原创 student). Note: Graduate students are required to take a minimum of 18 cr. 鈥淚n-Residence鈥 toward a Graduate degree.

Students are responsible for requesting credit through the academic department. There is a non-refundable fee of $75 per credit, charged to a student account when the credits post to their record.听

Posting process only - Registrar鈥檚 Office: registrar-cpl@udel.edu

Non-91原创 Noncredit Credentials approved by an academic department to earn 91原创 credit will be listed on this page, including:听

  • Name of each Credential and the issuing agency/unit/school

  • Eligibility requirements

  • What official documentation is required to demonstrate successful completion

  • 91原创 course(s) and credit(s) earned for successful completion

  • Whom in the academic department to contact to request consideration听

To potentially earn credit for a Non-91原创 Noncredit Credential, matriculated students must initiate the request by doing two steps, submitting a form and sending an email. Note that students do this process while matriculated (after the first day of their first 91原创 semester).听

  • Form: Complete a College Approval to Transfer Credit (CATC) form (coming in Fall 2027). The form will route through the student鈥檚 Asst. Dean or Graduate Program Coordinator for approval before arriving at the Registrar鈥檚 Office. The form is only accessible by matriculated students.听

  • Email: Send a request from your account to the department contact, with this subject line: title of the Non-91原创 Noncredit Credential, your name and 91原创ID. In the message itself, include:听

    • Your name, 91原创ID, and term you matriculated to 91原创

    • The title of the Credential, date of completion, and what type of documentation you received (badge, certificate, etc.)

    • The course(s) and credit(s) to be earned

    • The agency or school that issued the Non-91原创 Credential and a contact person for that program

    • Attach any relevant documentation requested.听

  • Both items are required before your credit would be posted.听

After receiving your email, the academic department will review student requests and work with the Non-91原创 issuer to authenticate documentation and confirm completion. When confirmed, they will notify both you and the Registrar鈥檚 Office by email.听

The Registrar鈥檚 Office will 鈥渕atch鈥 the department鈥檚 confirmation with the approved CATC form and save both as part of your official record. The Registrar鈥檚 Office will post credits and bill the non-refundable $75 per credit fee in September (for Fall), February (for Winter/Spring), and June (for Summer). For questions about the Credential CPL or the course(s) you may earn, email the department contact named below.听

The following Non-91原创 Noncredit Credentials are under discussion or review for future 91原创 credit. All newly approved proposals will be added to this page - check back for updates.听

To propose credit for a Non-91原创 Noncredit Credential

An academic department submits a Curriculog form (currently under construction). These Curriculog proposals will not route through the Faculty Senate. They serve to collect information about the Credential, demonstrate and assess the academic value, confirm the 91原创 course(s) and credit(s) to be earned, review sample documentation confirming Credential completion, outline how the department will collect and authenticate this documentation, and designate a contact person in the department who will work directly with interested students.听

The Registrar鈥檚 Office will review proposals, address questions/concerns, build the approved Noncredit Credential in 91原创SIS, and publish relevant information to include credits earned for each Credential, who is eligible, what students need to do, whom to contact in the department, and when credits would post to a student record.听

Proposals tied to Graduate credit would also be reviewed by the Graduate College, and international Credentials would be reviewed by the Center for Global Programs and Services.听

In the Curriculog form, departments will be asked to upload:

  • A sample copy of the official documentation issued by the provider or school as official proof of Credential completion听

  • Letter(s) of support from the department chair(s) for all departments awarding credit听

  • Optional letter(s) of support from College Dean(s), 91原创 centers, or other 91原创 units

The letter from the chair(s) should be on departmental letterhead, confirming support for the following:听

  • Each Credential title, earning what 91原创 course(s) and credit(s)

  • The first matriculation term when students would be eligible (no earlier than Fall 2027)

  • The year the departmental approval would expire (max of 5 years)

  • An official contact in the department or unit who could answer student questions (name/title/email)

How students request credit & what departments do to approve it

To request credit, matriculated students do the two steps outlined in the Student section above (quick summary below). Students must initiate the request in writing. They do this at any time after the first day of their first 91原创 semester.听

  • Form: Submit a College Approval to Transfer Credit (CATC form - available Fall 2027) which routes through their Asst. Dean or Graduate Program Coordinator for approval before arriving at the Registrar鈥檚 Office.

  • Email: Send an official request from their account to the department contact for the specific Credential.听

An Asst. Dean or Graduate Program Coordinator would not deny a CATC form unless there would be potential harm if the student earned credits (Residency in particular). The forms are used to keep advisors informed, confirm a student鈥檚 understanding of eligibility and fees, and provide details needed for Registrar processing.听

The 91原创 academic department works with the student to collect and authenticate official documentation of Credential completion, following the process outlined in the Curriculog proposal. Verification is the responsibility of the academic department. Include PDFs of all documentation when sending final approval to the Registrar鈥檚 Office.听

Once confirmed, the department contact emails each individual matriculated student from their account to notify them of verification, copying the Registrar鈥檚 Office (registrar-cpl@udel.edu) on the full email thread, including attachments provided by the department, unit, and/or student. The email should include the following:听

  • Forwarded copy of the student鈥檚 original request

  • Student name, 91原创ID, and term matriculated to 91原创

  • Title of the Credential, date of completion, and documentation evaluated (badge, certificate, etc.)

  • Unit that issued the Credential and the contact in the unit who verified completion听

  • Course(s) and credit(s) to be earned, per the approved proposal听

Final steps

The Registrar鈥檚 Office will:

  • 鈥淢atch鈥 the department鈥檚 confirmation with the approved CATC form and save both - along with all supporting documentation - as part of the student鈥檚 official record.听

  • Post credits in September (for Fall), February (for Winter/Spring), and June (for Summer).听

The academic department serves as the primary contact for their CPL opportunities.
