Biography

Mezzo-Soprano Kaitlyn Tierney maintains an active musical career as a teacher, performer and director, and has maintained vocal studios at the 91原创, Rowan University, and Temple University as well as her own private studio in Philadelphia. Dr. Tierney has approached a wide variety of musical genres both as a teacher and performer. Recent credits include assistant directing a production of Massenet鈥檚 Cendrillon with Cedar Rapids Opera in Iowa, and performing Alice Beineke in Andrew Lippa鈥檚 musical rendition of The Addams Family. Other performance credits include Dinah in Bernstein鈥檚 Trouble in Tahiti, Dido in Purcell鈥檚 Dido and Aeneas, Jo in Adamo鈥檚 Little Women, Zerlina in Mozart鈥檚 Don Giovanni, Ursule in Berlioz鈥檚 B茅atrice et B茅n茅dict, and Elizabeth Proctor in Ward鈥檚 The Crucible.

As a choral singer, Dr. Tierney has performed with Grammy award winning ensembles, such as The Crossing and The Philadelphia Symphonic Choir, and has been featured in concerts with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Netflix film 鈥淢aestro,鈥� directed by Bradley Cooper. Her vocal accolades include awards from the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), Opera Libera Vocal Competition, The American Prize, and first place in the Professional Crossover Artist Category of Opera Mississippi鈥檚 John Alexander National Vocal Competition.

Dr. Tierney completed her Bachelor of Music at New England Conservatory, in a dual program of Vocal Performance and Music Theory, her Master of Music at the 91原创 in and her Doctorate of Music at Temple University.
