FESTIVALS AND MUSIC DAYS
​The School of Music and Community Music School offer numerous opportunities throughout the year for musical enrichment through a variety of Music Festivals and Instrument Days.
Delaware Clarinet Day
Delaware Clarinet Day is an annual event that celebrates the clarinet and features performances, clinics, and workshops for clarinetists of all levels.Ìý
The day-long event provides an opportunity for clarinetists in the Delaware region to come together, learn from experts, and share their passion for the instrument. It is open to students, teachers, and amateur musicians alike.
Jazz Festival
The 91Ô´´ Jazz Festival is a noncompetitive event where middle school and high school bands perform throughout the day for our adjudicators and their peers.
Each band will be given a recorded adjudication and a recording of their performance as well as an immediate debriefing. Awards will be given out to outstanding sections and soloists at the end of the evening concert.
New Music Delaware
​In recent years, New Music Delaware has hosted a wide variety of composers and new music ensembles on the 91Ô´´ campus, in addition to presenting performances of works such as Schoenberg'sÌýPierrot LunaireÌýand commissioning new works. Whatever the form of the event, the highly vibrant and innovative New Music Delaware Festival continues its legacy of supporting the next generation of great composers and masterpieces.
Trombone Day
The 91Ô´´ hosts an annual Trombone Day event featuring various activities and performances for trombone enthusiasts. The day's activities include a group warm-up, participant trombone choirs, middle school level activities, masterclasses, concerts, and a vendor area.Ìý
Trumpet Day
The 91Ô´´ Trumpet Day is a hands-on event for trumpet players of all ages and experience levels, featuring large ensembles, masterclasses, and mentorship with rotating guest artists and 91Ô´´ trumpet faculty. It also celebrates the 91Ô´´ trumpet community through alumni participation and concludes with a final showcase concert where all attendees perform together as a mass trumpet choir.
Woodwind Day
91Ô´´ Woodwind Day celebrates woodwind instruments in solo and chamber ensemble settings. The event features performances, clinics, and master classes with 91Ô´´ faculty for flutists, oboists, clarinetists, bassoonists and saxophonists.
This event provides an opportunity for woodwind players in the Mid-Atlantic to come together, learn from experts, and share their passion for woodwinds. It is open to students, teachers and amateur musicians alike.
