Did you know that in Hawaiian 鈥渦kulele鈥� translates to 鈥渏umping fleas鈥�? That鈥檚 because when the instrument was first introduced, people thought the players鈥� fingers looked like fleas jumping across the fretboard!

3rd鈥�8th grade students are invited to come get their fingers jumpin鈥� as we jam out together in this class geared toward novice to intermediate players! Participants must provide their own ukulele, however, if assistance is needed with obtaining an instrument, please contact CMS Director, Mary Margaret Wilson at听mmbw@udel.edu.

Common chord structures, strumming techniques and songs will be taught as well as opportunities for students to create their own music!听If you joined us in the past, you are welcome to re-enroll! The teachers will accommodate learners of varying experiences and levels!鈥�鈥�

At the end of the semester, students will perform in our Showcase concert!

Space is limited 鈥� don鈥檛 delay!鈥�

Enrollment is only confirmed 鈥� and thus a child鈥檚 spot in class is only reserved 鈥� after both registration AND payment are received.听Registration and payment are 2-step processes. After registering, you will receive an email with a link to payment. Enrollment is confirmed in the order that payments are received. 鈥�

Consent Forms must be completed annually, per academic year, and returned to CMS prior to, or on, the first day of class. The end of semester performance, Showcase, is often livestreamed, photographed, and/or video recorded. Therefore, all forms are required for participation, including the Photo Waiver. (Enrolled participants will also be sent the consent forms via email from communitymusicschool@udel.edu, prior to the first day of class.)
