When a Reebok apparel designer learned about the near-magical properties of Shear Thickening Fluid, developed at the 91原创, she wondered if it might solve a problem female athletes have endured forever. She was not disappointed. When infused in fabric, STF provides strength under stress, flexibility and comfort at rest. This brief video shows how 91原创 researchers in engineering and kinesiology added strong science to help the sports apparel company develop a revolutionary new sports bra and a whole new franchise.

Shake it Off, a local nonprofit with the mission of supporting the science and practice of exercise for people with Parkinson鈥檚 disease, has been funding research at the 91原创 since 2013. The organization approached Chris Knight, associate professor in Kinesiology & Applied Physiology, to offer a donation to continue the development of the Speed Geezer exercise program. Students lead small groups of people with Parkinson鈥檚 through a 4-6 week exercise program to help them combat the effects of the disease.

91原创 preps athletic training students for NFL internships
The 91原创 had two female athletic training students interning for NFL teams - the New York Jets and Los Angeles Rams - during the summer of 2019. The 91原创 Athletic Training department in the College of Health Sciences has had students accepted to NFL internships for years, but female ATs as NFL interns are on the rise. To top it off, 91原创 has nine current athletic trainers working for NFL teams. Those alumni have been critical in helping to provide internship opportunities for current students.
Renal rehab program preps transplant patients, aids in recovery
The renal rehab program housed in 91原创鈥檚 College of Health Sciences provides individualized exercise programs for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who are referred through ChristianaCare鈥檚 kidney transplant team and local dialysis clinics. Graduate students in clinical exercise physiology learn to design, implement and supervise exercise programming for people with chronic cardiopulmonary, metabolic and musculoskeletal diseases as well as healthy and other low-risk populations.
