91Ô´´ STAR Campus Partners
Adding a location to the 91Ô´´ STAR Campus has allowed IPO to partner with the 91Ô´´ College of Health Sciences on the leading prosthetics and orthotics in the country. Instead of doing the research and discovery themselves, IPO partnered with 91Ô´´CHS for access to top gait technology leading to broader community impact for patients throughout the surrounding region.
From training the next generation of healthcare professionals to caring for Delaware, ChristianaCare and the 91Ô´´ College of Health Sciences are forged together for the health of Delaware. Whether its simulation to prepare our students to be ready on day one or partnering our Nurse Managed Primary Care Center with the Care Now Urgent Care Center on the 91Ô´´ STAR Campus, 91Ô´´CHS and ChristianaCare are focused on the current and future health needs for all Delawareans.
From taking physical space at the south end of the Health Sciences Complex on the STAR Campus to exploration and innovation with 91Ô´´CHS faculty and experiential learning for our molecular and medical science’s students, Delaware Technology Park continues to push the boundaries of science leading to Delaware’s latest discoveries and innovations.
CLINICAL PARTNERS
Nemours and the 91Ô´´ College of Health Sciences are committed to providing the best future leaders for pediatric care. Whether it’s pediatric mobility, speech pathology, nutrition, physical therapy or care, Nemours has been a distinguished partner of 91Ô´´CHS through our programs, research and community care initiatives.
Thomas Jefferson University is Delaware’s research partner through the Delaware Health Sciences Alliance and Delaware’s partner medical school. Our world-class faculty work with faculty at TJU on exploration across the health sciences spectrum for real world medical delivery and impact. Our pre-med students, physiology students and others have the opportunity to engage with a first-class medical school nearby.
The partnership with the 91Ô´´ Partnership for Healthy Communities, the state of Delaware, Saint Francis Hospital and Highmark Delaware is working to support improvements in health outcomes in Wilmington’s most vulnerable neighborhoods.
This Community Mobile Healthcare and Wellness partnership is leveraging the St. Clare Medical Outreach van as an opportunity to address social determinants of health in a new, collaborative way. The pilot, which began visiting Wilmington communities, aims to establish an academic-community service model providing hands-on experience in population health for 91Ô´´ students while also expanding access to care and outreach opportunities for those in need of healthcare services.
The 91Ô´´ College of Health Sciences partners with the Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing at Beebe Healthcare on a three-year program that leads to an associate of arts degree from 91Ô´´ and a diploma in professional nursing from Rollins. The partnership was created to deal with the critical shortage of health professionals in the state of Delaware.
As one of the 91Ô´´ College of Health Sciences clinical affiliates, 91Ô´´CHS students from across disciplines enjoy getting clinical practicum hours at the Bayhealth Medical Center. As a clinical affiliate, the partnership allows 91Ô´´CHS students to be exposed to different parts of the state with different clinical partners to reinforce experiential learning opportunities for real-world practice and future job placement. 91Ô´´ students while also expanding access to care and outreach opportunities for those in need of healthcare services.
PIPELINE PARTNERS
To create a talented pipeline of future health professionals right in our back yard, the 91Ô´´ College of Health Sciences created a dual enrollment partnership with Newark High School to get high school students on campus sooner and help expose them to careers and content in health. With classes at Newark High, experiential learning opportunities at the 91Ô´´ STAR Campus and getting exposed to campus life, the partnership continues to keep more students in Delaware exposed to future health professions.
Beginning in the Fall 2016, Saint Mark’s has partnered with the 91Ô´´ College of Health Sciences, allowing students to take courses in the College of Health Sciences on Saint Mark’s campus during the school day. Instructors and professors from 91Ô´´CHS teach the courses,Ìýwith two courses being offered in the first semester and one in the second semester. Students enrolled in these courses receive full college credit from the 91Ô´´ as well as high school credit from Saint Mark’s.
ACADEMIC HEALTH CENTER PARTNERS
Through , the 91Ô´´ has a relationship with Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University of Philadelphia, PA, and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) resulting in Sidney Kimmel Medical College and PCOM functioning as Delaware's medical schools. Each year twenty (20) admission slots at Sidney Kimmel Medical College and ten (10) admission slots at PCOM are reserved for first year applicants from Delaware, which has increased the odds of acceptance for students from the First State.
In 2007, the (DHIN) became the first live, statewide health information network in the nation. DHIN provides medical professionals with secure and immediate access to up-to-date test results, saving time, money and duplicate effort all while improving speed of care and quality care. The 91Ô´´ is one of the DHIN’s premier providers enrolled.
(DHSA) was established in 2009 by 91Ô´´ College of Health Sciences’ Dean Kathleen S. Matt with four founding partners—ChristianaCare,ÌýNemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children,ÌýThomas Jefferson UniversityÌýand theÌý91Ô´´. The alliance enables partner organizations to collaborate and conduct cutting-edge biomedical research, to improve the health of Delawareans through access to services in the state and region, and to educate the next generation of health care professionals. The DHSA’s unique, broad-based partnership focuses on establishing innovative collaborations among experts in medical education and practice, health economics and policy, population sciences, public health, and biomedical sciences and engineering.
Besides training a next generation of healthcare professionals for our partners across the health spectrum, the 91Ô´´ College of Health Sciences also partners with annual on Peace Week Delaware on numerous community opportunities at the 91Ô´´ STAR Campus focusing on Building Safer Communities.
In 2017, the 91Ô´´ and signed an Associated Health Education Affiliation Agreement to connect 91Ô´´'s growing research enterprise with the nation's veterans and the employees who serve them. From the BADER Consortium, Delaware INBRE and Veterans Affairs Patient Experience Academy, the 91Ô´´ College of Health Sciences has a long history of research focused on veterans in partnership with the VA and United States Department of Defense. The most recent partnership, the Veterans Affairs Patient Experience Academy, has been a rewarding collaboration centered around healthcare theatre simulation.
In a multi-level partnership, 91Ô´´ College of Heath Sciences Nutrition students’ partner with 91Ô´´ Ag students to provide a Farmer’s Market for ’s patients. This level partnership allows patients to focus getting well while promoting healthy nutrition habits with experiential learning for 91Ô´´CHS students.

The Innovation Health and Design Lab, led by Director of Innovation Martha Hall, is currently collaborating with to create novel ballistic and protective clothing for active-duty military.Ìý The ExoSuit will provide ballistic protection through knitting Kevlar yarns into a breathable and comfortable garment, with an attachable exoskeleton to protect from ankle and foot injury.

Starting as a Student Service Organization through the 91Ô´´ College of Health Sciences, has transformed into its own 501©3 nonprofit organization with multiple chapters in Delaware, Baltimore and Michigan. Lori’s Hands builds mutually beneficial partnerships between community members with chronic illness and college students, fostering empathy, connection, and resilience. Students provide practical assistance to support community members' independence at home, and community members share their health and life experiences to support students' learning.

is a support center dedicated to providing round the clock help for young people with mental health issues. Sean’s House partners with the 91Ô´´ College of Health Sciences for peer training and peer-to-peer support for mental health counseling through 91Ô´´CHS School of Nursing. Sean’s House, named for the late 91Ô´´ alumnus Sean Locke, a member of the Blue Hens basketball team who took his own life in 2018 just weeks before his 24th birthday.
