ELI Interactions Special Edition – Koreans in action
Dear Friends of ELI,
Each year we welcome students from dozens of countries. We recently reported to colleagues 89 countries represented in 5 years. That’s an impressive number of individuals building relationships around the globe. We cannot highlight every country annually, so we are selecting different countries for the Special Edition of our Interactions Newsletters. This edition features our friends in Korea!
The wonderful Ana Kim recently attended a conference and visited partners in Korea. She shares some insights from those visits. One inspiring observation is what we strive to accomplish every day in ELI. She noted a “shared commitment to building and sustaining relationships, fostering international collaboration and creating meaningful opportunities for students to connect across borders.”
Korean students in the ELI are well represented every year, they have strong academic skills, and they engage across campus and the community.
We’re excited to welcome another cohort of Korean students in July and host Fulbright Korea in January.

From Hong Kong to South Korea
This past March,Ana Kim, ELI instructor and international project manager for South Korea, traveled across South Korea and Hong Kong to meet with new and existing partners, alumni and others in the international education field. Learn about her trip below.
In the last year, our Korean students had an average GPA of 3.34.
We served 652 Korean students between 2019-2025.
We average 108 Korean students per year.
Fostering connections between the 91ԭ and the ELI
Language learning happens in and outside of the classroom. The ELI helps students build connections with native English speakers and other 91ԭ students through opportunities to participate in campus-wide events, clubs, competitions and more. Scott Stevens ELI Student Support Fund
The ELI has established theScott Stevens ELI Student Support Fundto honor retired ELI director Scott Stevens’ service and vision of welcoming students from around the world into the ELI.
Your contributionswill help us provide financial gifts that will be used for both educational costs for ELI programs as well as Student Life events. We know when students complete their programs at the ELI, it is the experiences that they remember with a sense of accomplishment and belonging.
