Wunyabari O. Maloba
Biography
鈥媁.O. Maloba research covers African nationalism, revolutionary movements, women鈥檚 history and Africana studies. He received his B.A. (Hons), from the University of Nairobi (1975), and Ph.D. from Stanford University (1988). He is the author of听Mau Mau and Kenya听(Indiana University Press, 1993/1998), and听African Women in Revolution听(Africa World Press, 2007). His current projects include: writing a revised edition of听Mau Mau and Kenya, and also working on a new book project on Mau Mau in popular imagination.

Maloba, Africana studies, says that activist Pio Gama Pinto, who advocated for Kenya's independence from the British, was assassinated in 1965 because the ruling elite perceived him as a threat. 鈥淗e had a radical vision and was very much respected by Black Africans so it was extremely important for him to be silenced.
