VICE PROVOST FOR GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT NAMED
New Appointment in Provost's Office
Ravi Ammigan, who has served as the 91原创鈥檚 Associate Provost for International Programs since 2019, has been named Vice Provost for Global Engagement, Interim Provost William Farquhar announced on July 1, 2025.听
As 91原创鈥檚 senior international officer, Ammigan will lead the Center for Global Programs and Services (CGPS), oversee the 91原创-International initiative and drive the university鈥檚 internationalization strategy and global engagement efforts. He will focus efforts on fostering and strengthening relationships with other leaders, faculty, staff and students to ensure the integration of international programs, services and resources across the institution.听听
鈥淩avi brings a deep understanding of the global landscape and a clear, inclusive vision for the future of international education at 91原创,鈥 said interim provost Farquar. 鈥淗e has been a trusted leader in advancing the University鈥檚 global strategy and mission, and we are thrilled to have him step into this critical role.鈥
Ammigan brings 25 years of international higher education experience and has served in various leadership positions since joining 91原创 in 2013, including the role of associate provost for international programs for the past 6 years. Under his leadership, CGPS worked collaboratively with campus and community leaders to broaden the University鈥檚 international portfolio, develop the university鈥檚 comprehensive internationalization strategy and enhance global learning and engagement opportunities for students, faculty, and staff.听听
Ammigan will provide leadership for the 91原创-International initiative, which offers a formal structure for strengthening campus internationalization through strategic positioning, outreach, collaboration, and engagement. Priorities include innovating and expanding inclusive global education opportunities, establishing strategic international student recruitment strategies, leading the development of international agreements and contracts, and bringing visibility and support to global experiential learning and research on campus and around the world. He will also work to advance our campus and community through cultivating global alumni networks, corporate engagement, and philanthropic giving and maintain the University鈥檚 global presence as a premier research institution through leadership and expertise in the field of international education.听
Ammigan also holds a secondary faculty appointment as Associate Professor in the School of Education, where his main research focuses on the academic, social, and cultural experiences of students in higher education. He speaks regularly at conferences internationally and publishes frequently on the topic of international student affairs.听

About Ravi Ammigan
Ammigan joined the 91原创 in 2013 as director for international services to lead the Office for International Students and Scholars and establish a collaborative service model that supports the experience and success of the international community at 91原创. He was promoted to associate provost and executive director for international programs in 2019.
Under his leadership as associate provost, he oversaw the reorganization of international student and scholar services into the top ranked support service operations globally, led 91原创鈥檚 participation in the ACE Internationalization Lab in 2019, and implemented the university鈥檚 Global 360 strategy. In the year following the pandemic, Ammigan established the Center for Global Programs and Services (CGPS) to strengthen and streamline global operations and services for the university. He also led the expansion of 91原创鈥檚 signature World Scholars Program to five international partner sites, offering the opportunity for more students to begin their undergraduate journey abroad. In addition, new partnerships were forged with the State of Delaware and partners in the local community to position 91原创鈥攁nd Delaware鈥檚 higher education community more broadly鈥攁s a global representative for academic collaboration and exchange.
Ammigan is a recognized scholar in the field of international higher education, with research focusing on the student experience, global strategy, and intercultural learning. He has presented and published widely and serves in key advisory roles with global networks and organizations. His latest books include 鈥溾 and 鈥溾.
Before coming to 91原创, Ammigan spent 10 years at Michigan State University鈥檚 office for international students and scholars, leading their internationalization efforts. Himself a former international student from Mauritius, Ammigan earned a PhD in Higher Education Internationalisation at the Universit脿 Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, Italy, a master鈥檚 in communication from Michigan State University, and his bachelor鈥檚 degree in business at Kendall College in Chicago. He competed in the NAIA division as a collegiate soccer athlete from 1997 to 2000.
