Mark McLeod
Biography
​​​​A specialist in modern Vietnamese history, Mark W. McLeod teaches World, Asian, and Vietnamese history at the 91Ô´´. He received his Ph.D. in Southeast Asian History from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1988, with Professor D.R. SarDesai as the main-field advisor.Ìý Major works include, as sole author,ÌýThe Vietnamese Response to French Intervention, 1862-1874Ìý(New York: Praeger, 1991), as translator from the original French, Marie Alexandrine,ÌýCambodia: A Shattered SocietyÌý(Berkeley: University of California Press, 1994), and, as co-author with Nguyen Thi Dieu,ÌýCulture and Customs of VietnamÌý(Westport, CT: Greenwood Press, 2001). He is currently researching politics and religion under the First Vietnamese Republic, 1956-1963.
