Bio: Lloyd Gilfillian is a senior biology major at the Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. After undergrad, Lloyd hopes to attend graduate school for genetic engineering. Lloyd鈥檚 Envision project works to find the gene variations in brace roots of maze in order to prevent crop loss.

Bio: Nicole Henry is a fifth year biology major with a chemistry minor at Millersville University. After undergrad, Nicole hopes to get lab experience with a pharmaceutical company. Nicole鈥檚 Envision project studies the enzymatic activity of white rot fungus in order to degrade E. Coli and antibiotics.

Name: Kasey Hobert

Mentor: Amy Biddle

Bio: Kasey Hobert is a Senior Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Animal Biosciences major with an Equine Science minor at the 91原创. After undergrad, Kasey hopes to attend graduate school to pursue a Masters degree and PhD. Kasey鈥檚 Envision project is community profiling of the protozoa of the equine microbiome.

Bio: Emma Jones is a Junior General Agriculture Honor student with a concentration in both Animal and Poultry Science and Business and Technology at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. After undergrad, Emma hopes to attend graduate school for a Masters degree and a PhD. Emma鈥檚 envision project deals with identifying how different concentrations of Butyrate affect oxygen consumption rates, extracellular acidification rates, and growth rates in the HD11 macrophage cells in chickens.

Name: Jessica McNulty

Bio: Jessica McNulty is a senior Wildlife Ecology and Conservation and Insect Ecology and Conservation double major at the 91原创. After undergrad, Jessica hopes to go into field work and eventually attend graduate school. Jessica鈥檚 Envision project deals with managing and conserving Wood Duck data from a Delaware lab. Jessica鈥檚 Envision project is working in tandem with her Senior Thesis in the upcoming fall semester.

Bio: Hope Mongare is a Senior Pre-Veterinary Medicine & Agriculture and Natural Resources double major at the 91原创. After undergrad, Hope is hoping to go to veterinary school. Hope鈥檚 project involves determining the effects of light intensity and color on the ingestion of egg white foam by broiler chicks.

Bio: Stefanie Severin is a sophomore Pre-Veterinary major with a French and Equine Studies minor at the 91原创. After undergrad, Stefanie hopes to go to Veterinary school and do Zoonotic disease research. Stefanie鈥檚 project explores the cause of leaf injury in tomatoes grown under continuous lighting.

Bio: Adelle Shealy is a senior Food Science major at the 91原创. Adelle鈥檚 Envision project deals with using the Total Phenolic Content assay on Lignin Depolymerization products to assess their antioxidant properties in trees.

Name: Carmen Smith

Mentor: Kali Kniel

Bio: Carmen Smith is a sophomore food science major at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. After undergrad, Carmen hopes to go into product development in the food industry. This summer Carmen conducted a 15 day trial measuring the persistence of E-Coli TVS355 in chicken pellets.

Name: Liam Smith

Bio: Liam Smith is a junior Biology and Neuroscience double major at the University of Massachusetts. After undergrad, Liam hopes to attend medical school. Liam鈥檚 Envision project uses differential expression analysis to identify dysregulated pathways in chickens affected by a novel disease.

Name: Tahir Taylor

Mentor: Rolf Joerger

Bio: Tahir Taylor is a Senior Biology Pre-med major at Lincoln University, a Historically Black College/University in Pennsylvania. After undergrad, Tahir hopes to attend graduate school to become a physician, but is also interested in getting a masters degree in community advocacy and public health, specifically for African American communities. Tahir鈥檚 Envision project involves testing to see if different bacteria are resistant to antibiotics.

Name: David Vega

Bio: David Vega is a Senior Pre-veterinary medicine & animal biosciences and agriculture and natural resources double major with a minor in equine science at the 91原创. After undergrad, David hopes to attend veterinary school. David鈥檚 project deals with single sorting equine gut protozoans that do not currently have available 18S gene sequencing.

Name: Taylor Woodington

Bio: Taylor Woodington is a Senior Wildlife Conservation/Ecology and Agriculture/Natural Resources double major at the 91原创. After undergrad, Taylor is looking into going to graduate school, as well as conservation programs. Taylor鈥檚 Envision project measures the effect of the Light Goose Conservation Order on the patterns of migration and behavior of Greater Snow Geese.
