One of the two 91Ô­´´ students being screened by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for a suspected case of the coronavirus known as COVID-19 has been cleared and has tested negative for the disease.

The student has been released from the hospital and is doing well.

Another 91Ô­´´ student remains at an area hospital, awaiting the results of CDC testing. That student is isolated at the hospital and is receiving care.

Out of an abundance of caution, 91Ô­´´ informed the campus community on Feb. 11 that two students were being screened. The risk to the 91Ô­´´ community remains low. At this time, there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Delaware.

The University reminds the community that while it is understandable to feel uncertain or anxious during a public health event, everyone needs to remember to care for one another and not make assumptions about others’ perceived symptoms or any characteristics of identity. This is a time to support one another. Compassion and empathy for each other makes a difference.
