Online MBA Application Process

Our graduate application system is designed to put you in control of not only the application but all documents associated with that application. We have designated areas within the application where each required document should be uploaded.听

You鈥檒l need:

1. Online Application

Begin assembling your required application materials as electronic documents before completing the . Do not mail any documents.

2. Application Fee

A $75 application fee is due when you submit your online application.

3. Bachelor鈥檚 Degree

A four-year U.S. bachelor鈥檚 degree, or its equivalent, in any academic field from an accredited college or university is required.听

4. Transcripts

An unofficial transcript is required with your application. You should visit the registrar鈥檚 page of your home institution (post-high school institutions only) to print an unofficial copy to create your scan. If your home institution does not provide this service, ask for a student copy to create your scan. Do not mail official transcripts during the applicant stage.听Please visit听听for more detailed information.

5. Essays

One required essay, with optional essay supplements. We are looking for insightful, specific, and concise responses.听

6. Resume

A resume, or curriculum vitae, that documents your prior work experience, publications, honors and awards received, and a summary of your educational credentials.

7. Two Letters of Recommendation

You provide names and email addresses for your recommenders, and recommendation forms are emailed directly to them from the online application. Instructions are included as to how to return the completed forms electronically.听You can submit your application before your letters of recommendation are complete.

8. GMAT/GRE Optional

If you are not submitting a GMAT/GRE score, please select that you request a waiver on the Test Score Waivers page of the application.

9. Work Experience

A minimum of two years work experience is preferred.听

10. Math Requirement

To be successful in the MBA program, you must demonstrate strong analytical and quantitative skills through prior academic work and/or recent professional experience. Applicants who are otherwise qualified for admission but lacking successful coursework in non-introductory statistics, calculus, linear math classes or work experience, may be asked to complete at their expense a 听course听in order to be admitted to the program. This will be communicated upon the completion of the Admissions Committee鈥檚 review of the full application.

Through a combination of core MBA courses and elective options, students develop essential business knowledge while customizing their degree to match their interests and career aspirations. Students may personalize their MBA by pursuing a major, concentration, or selecting elective courses aligned with their goals.

The online MBA curriculum consists of 11 core courses and 3 elective courses, totaling 14 courses. Students also have the option to pursue an MBA major, which includes 2 additional courses for a total of 16 courses. The total number of courses required may vary depending on the degree option selected.听

Hemant Kher, Ph.D.

Bio: Hemant V. Kher is a professor of operations management in the Department of Business Administration at the 91原创. He has a Ph.D. in production & operations management from the University of South Carolina, a masters in industrial administration from Lynchburg College, and a B.Sc. in physics from Bombay University. Before pursuing graduate studies, he worked in the Quality Control and Production Planning departments at Amforge Industries in Mumbai, India. He has consulted with several firms on operations issues.

He has published his research in Cornell Hospitality Quarterly, Decision Sciences, European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Research, Journal of Operations Management, Multivariate Behavioral Research, Omega 鈥 The International Journal of Management Science, and many other journals.

Wendy Smith, Ph.D.

Bio: Wendy Smith earned her Ph.D. in organizational behavior at Harvard Business School, and is currently a professor of management at the Alfred Lerner College of Business & Economics and Co-director of the Women鈥檚 Leadership Initiative at the 91原创.

Wendy鈥檚 research focuses on strategic paradoxes 鈥 how leaders and senior teams effectively respond to contradictory agendas. She studies how organizations and their leaders simultaneously explore new possibilities while exploiting existing competencies, and how social enterprises simultaneously attend to social missions and financial goals.

Her research has been published in journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Harvard Business Review, Organization Science and Management Science. In 2018, she won the 91原创鈥檚 first Mid-Career Excellence in Scholarship Award. In 2015, she won the Lerner College Outstanding Scholar Award.

Wendy teaches leadership, organizational behavior and business ethics. She has taught MBAs and undergraduates at 91原创, Harvard and University of Pennsylvania 鈥 Wharton. Wendy was awarded the 91原创 MBA Teaching Award in 2016. Wendy has also taught executive and senior leadership teams how to manage interpersonal dynamics, emotional intelligence, high performing teams, organizational change and innovation, managing in times of crisis, and managing strategic paradoxes.

Wendy鈥檚 book was published by Harvard Business School Press in August 2022.

Carlos Asarta, Ph.D.

Bio: Carlos J. Asarta is the James B. O鈥橬eill Director of the Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship (CEEE). A tenured professor in the Department of Economics, Asarta also serves as the University鈥檚 Faculty Athletics Representative. Carlos holds master鈥檚 and Ph.D. degrees in economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His scholarly work focuses on the areas of economic education, technology in the classroom and financial literacy.

His research has been published in academic journals such as The Internet and Higher Education, AEA Papers and Proceedings, Journal of Economic Education, Academy of Management Learning & Education and Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education.

Dr. Asarta is the recipient of several teaching, service and research awards including the Henry H. Villard Research Award from the National Association of Economic Educators, the Lerner College Outstanding Outreach/Service Award from the 91原创 and the Association of Students of the University of Nebraska Outstanding Educator of the Year Award.

Asarta is the author of (McGraw-Hill), a 鈥渄igital-first鈥 product offering the same core content found in mainstream textbooks but in a way that breaks free from the constraints of a traditional textbook鈥檚 structure and format. Carlos is a member of the Society of Economic Educators, President of the Delaware Council on Economic Education and editor-in-chief of The American Economist.

All requests for transfer credit should be directed to the student鈥檚 major department using a Request for Transfer of Graduate Credit form. Transfer credits will be accepted provided that such credits:

  • Were earned with a grade of no less than B,
  • Are approved by the student鈥檚 adviser and the chair of the student鈥檚 major department,
  • Are in accord with the specific degree program of the student as specified by the unit鈥檚 Graduate Program Policy Statement,
  • Are not older than five years,
  • Are graduate level courses, and
  • Were completed at an accredited college or university.

Graduate courses counted toward a degree received elsewhere may not be transferred into a degree at the 91原创. Credits from institutions outside of the United States are generally not transferable to the 91原创.

All course waivers are subject to individual review and require the submission of syllabi for all non-91原创 courses. Meeting the above guidelines does not guarantee that a course waiver will be granted.

Students in the 38-credit听MBA program may have up to 6 credits of course waivers and 9 credits of course transfers but no more than 12 credits combined between the two.

Time and Duration

You can earn your degree in as few as 12 months full-time, or complete the program part-time at your convenience.

You have up to five years to complete the degree program.

We've designed the MBA program to offer maximum flexibility, allowing you to complete your degree either part-time or full-time. Most part-time students take one to two courses per semester, while full-time students typically enroll in three to four courses. You can adjust your course load from semester to semester to fit your personal and professional commitments.

Tuition and Funding

This program costs听$1,149 per credit hour. For a total number of 38 credit hours, this program's total estimated tuition is $43,662. If a major degree option is selected, the听MBA program is 44 credits, totaling $50,556. This does not include other fees you may incur such as textbooks and the cost of living.

Merit-Based Awards

Merit-based funding opportunities listed below are available to full-time students. To remain eligible for funding, students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Graduate Scholarships 鈥 Merit-based graduate scholarships are available to exceptionally qualified full-time applicants. Awards may cover up to 25% of tuition for up to two years. No separate scholarship application is required.

Additional Scholarship Opportunities 鈥 Lerner College offers several scholarships to support students based on their connection to the 91原创 or recent economic hardship. Only one 20% graduate scholarship may be awarded per eligible student. These scholarships cannot be combined with other 91原创 funding, including merit-based scholarships or graduate assistantships.

  • 91原创 Alumni Support Scholarship: A 20% tuition scholarship and application fee waiver for 91原创 alumni pursuing a Lerner graduate program.
  • 91原创 Student Support Scholarship: A 20% tuition scholarship for current 91原创 juniors, seniors, and recent graduates enrolling in a Lerner graduate program or a 4+1 program.
