Hassan El-Amin
Biography
Hassan El-Amin, a native of San Diego, CA has worked extensively as a regional equity actor at many of the LORT Theatres across the country including the Huntington in Boston, the Guthrie in Minneapolis, Portland Center Stage, Denver Theatre Center, the Goodman in Chicago, San Diego Repertory, Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, Sacramento Theatre Company, Penumbra in St. Paul, Milwaukee Repertory, Alliance in Atlanta, Kennedy Center and Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., and the Colorado, Utah, and Oregon Shakespeare Festivals in such roles as Leland in聽Blues for an Alabama Sky, Lincoln in聽Top Dog Under Dog, Troy Maxson in聽Fences,聽Harmon Wilks in聽Radio Golf, Booster in聽Jitney,聽Floyd Barton in聽Seven Guitars, Ebenezer Scrooge in聽A Christmas Carol, Walter Lee in聽A Raisin in the Sun, Prospero in聽The Tempest, Edmund in聽King Lear, and the title role in聽翱迟丑别濒濒辞听just to name a few.
Hassan Broadway credits include聽The Lion King聽in the role of Mufasa and Scar.聽His voice can be heard on the movie Soundtracks,聽Tears of the Sun聽starring Bruce Willis, Walt Disney鈥檚聽The Wild聽starring Kiefer Sutherland and Play Station III video game,聽The Darkness. Television roles include guest appearance as Dr. Thomas Dixon on NBC鈥檚聽E-Ring.
Hassan has held the position of Theatre Artist in Residence at St. Paul High School of Creative and Performing Arts, Theatre Director Inner City Youth League; St. Paul, MN, Theatre Arts Consultant for San Diego Unified School District, Theatre Arts Instructor and Consultant for Walt Disney Educational Outreach Program in Orlando, FL, Director of Entertainment for Faith & Works; Inc. and he was the Interim Artistic Director for Common Ground Theatre in San Diego, CA
He has collaborated as a writer and director on many new works projects, the World Premiere of聽Jazz Queens Cast Blue Shadows聽performed at the Lyceum Space Theatre in San Diego CA,聽Hotel Swing聽a stage musical,聽Speak Easy聽a spoken word experience both performed at the Baldwin Burroughs Theatre on Spelman college campus,聽Skirts: Petticoat to Crinoline: A Historical Apparel Experience 1887 - 1950, which had an exhibition at the Camille O. Hanks Crosby Museum of Fine Arts and the Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture and History in Atlanta, GA,聽A Mile in His Shoes,聽a theatrical production celebrating the life of Civil Rights Leader Dr. Joseph E. Lowery,聽In the Midnight Hour, a 鈥渏ukebox musical鈥 featuring the songs of Wilson Pickett both performed at the Martin Luther King International Chapel at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA.
Hassan was recently a member of the Diane and Hal Brierley Resident Acting Company at the Dallas Theatre Center. He received his M.F.A. from the Professional Theater Training Program at the 91原创.
