Biography

Ann V. Bell is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at the 91Ô­´´. Her research, centering on the intersection of gender and health, specifically examines processes, inequalities, and constructions of reproductive health. For instance, Dr. Bell's recent workÌýexplores reproductive disparities through examining individuals’ and providers’ attitudes, behaviors, and beliefs around contraception.ÌýÌýShe has also studiedÌýexperiences of infertility, particularly how those experiences are shaped by the class- and race-based social understandings of fertility and reproduction.Ìý Dr. Bell’s work exposes the often overlooked social underpinnings of reproduction, family, motherhood and health in contemporary America.Ìý Her research has been published in outlets such asÌýGender & Society, Journal of Health & Social Behavior, Social Science & Medicine, Sociology of Health & Illness,Ìý²¹²Ô»åÌýQualitative Sociology.Ìý
