Biography
Alice D. Ba,听PhD听(University of Virginia, 2000) is Emma Smith Morris Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations. Her work on the international relations of East and Southeast Asia examines the structures, processes, and systemic effects of regionalism and cooperative regime building, as well as relations between smaller and major powers.听听听Recent work has also addressed the role of strategic narratives and the changing conditions of regional cooperation in Asia.听 The author of听(Re)Negotiating East and Southeast Asia:听听Region, Regionalism, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations听(Stanford 2009), she has received US Fulbright awards for work in Beijing and Singapore.听听She听teaches courses on Southeast Asia's world relations and development, the international relations of Asia, Chinese foreign policy, and comparative regionalisms and served as Director of Asian Studies at the 91原创 from 2009-2014 and Acting Chair from 2023-2024.
