Biography
鈥婯arissa attained an MS from the Winterthur/91原创 Program in Art Conservation (2020) as an Andrew W. Mellon Fellow in Library and Archive Conservation. During her studies she had the privilege of being an intern or fellow at The American Philosophical Society, the Indiana Historical Society, the University of Michigan Libraries, the Library of Congress, and Northwestern University Libraries. Most recently, she helped to define the new Preventive Conservation Librarian role at the University of Pennsylvania Libraries, where she updated and executed their environmental monitoring program, developed,聽and聽piloted their Collection Care Program, liaised with the many departmental libraries, and treated distinctive collection聽materials. In addition to her contributions to other publications and presentations, Karissa is the lead author of the paper 鈥淚nvestigating the Effects of Rigid Polysaccharide Gels on Several Paper Sizings.鈥 Karissa is also a founding member of the endowed Vicki Cassman Undergraduate Award in Art Conservation and聽an active participant in the international聽Bibliotoxicology Working Group鈥攊nvestigating toxic pigments in book materials.鈥
