What is your goal for the future?

I now have very big goals. I really like human blood systems, or muscles and brain systems, so I want to learn more about them.

How has the ELI made you feel welcomed when you transitioned here and got used to America?

I think the ELI helped me solve problems. When I first came to America, I didn鈥檛 know how to do many things. I didn鈥檛 know how to talk with an American because I'm Chinese and the cultures are so different. I didn鈥檛 know how or what to say, but when I joined the ELI, the teachers told me about American culture and people, and how to say certain things. That helped me a lot.

What challenge have you overcome at the ELI?

Listening. My listening was very weak. I always mixed up A-E-I-O-U in the middle of words. For example, 鈥渂ed鈥� and 鈥渂ad.鈥� It was a very big challenge for me.

What advice do you have for future students who will come here to study?

Studying at the ELI is a good choice because if you come to America and go to 91原创 to finish your studies, you need to know how to socialize. When you come to the ELI, you can practice socializing and better understand American culture to learn how to live in America.

What is your goal for the future?

I want to have a career that makes a lot of money.

How has the ELI made you feel welcomed and safe during your transition to life in America?

We can learn a lot of vocabulary and academic words. When we study English, the textbooks have a lot of paragraphs about many kinds of topics, like medicine, for example.

What challenge have you overcome at the ELI?

At first I couldn鈥檛 understand what people said because my listening was not good. Also, to be honest, at first some people had very strong accents. After staying here for a long time, I realized that I can now understand what they are saying.

What advice do you have for future students who will come here to study?

Don鈥檛 be absent from too many classes!
