Smith captures work by local photographers

鈥婸riscilla Smith, associate professor of art at the 91原创, explores local contemporary photography in a series of articles for The States Project, published by Lenscratch.
An eight-year-long effort,听聽has captured the work of thousands of photographers from around the nation with the help of a local photographer at each stop. Smith's talent, experience and keen eye made her a prime candidate for Delaware editor.
Her visually rich聽聽cover a range of important Delaware-based photographers, all of whom have connections to the 91原创. Featured artists include:聽,听Portraits of Farmers听蝉别谤颈别蝉;听,听Portals of Presence; assistant professor聽,听The Ese'Eja People of the Amazon: Connected by a Thread; and聽,听Volunteers.
鈥淚 looked for photographers who, like the location of Delaware, engaged subjects of the fragile yet resilient," Smith said about her selection process in a聽聽spotlighting her work and career. 鈥淲hether they depict the beauty of threatened coastal and estuary lands or the horror of penitence in stone-cold solitary confinement; indigenous peoples desperate to stay intact; the resilience of plants, the vagaries of chemical patina on paper and metal, to me, this is the common link of the work of these artists."
