Center for Experimental and Applied Economics
Overview
CEAE serves as the research hub for experimental and applied economics at the 91原创, supporting innovative research conducted by faculty and students. CEAE-affiliated researchers address pressing societal challenges related to land conservation, water security, ecosystem service markets, agricultural management and policy, consumer preferences, climate change adaptation, and behavioral responses to risk. CEAE supports lab and field experiments, surveys, and other applied research methods that allow researchers to study how people make decisions and respond to information, incentives, risk, and changing environmental conditions. CEAE also advances experiential learning and cultivates the next generation of researchers through hands-on research opportunities, layered mentorship, and professional development.

She works as a research assistant on campus, has minors in business administration and business analytics, and regularly networks with industry professionals through 91原创鈥檚 Job Shadow Program. -
Small changes, big impact

His thesis on the effects of temperature defaults on energy and water consumption can be applied to evaluate sustainability efforts at colleges and universities. At the same time, his work with the Office of Sustainability and the CEAE mentoring network helps to keep students interested in sustainability. -
Climate conscious
October 04, 2024 | Written by Molly SchaferDavidson Obilor Nwaonu, an agricultural and resource economics graduate student in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, wants to reduce agriculture鈥檚 contribution to climate change. His research seeks to understand how consumers make trade-offs between climate-smart attributes and health attributes while grocery shopping. Nwaonu is a scholar at the United States Department of Agriculture鈥檚 Graduate Student Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Partners, also known as USDA GradCAMP. Climate justice is important to Nwaonu, who came to 91原创 from an area of Nigeria polluted by oil drilling.

The advisory council provides strategic guidance and actionable recommendations to help CEAE achieve its mission. The council collaborates closely with the CEAE Leadership Team, which includes the CEAE Director, Research Manager, Lab Coordinator, and postdoctoral researchers.
