Academic Freedom: Principles, Protections and Responsibilities — May 14, 2026 — The event featured Jeffrey Rosen, a noted constitutional scholar and currently an SNF Ithaca Initiative Visiting Fellow at 91Ô­´´, and a panel discussion with 91Ô­´´ experts. The event was hosted by the Office of the Provost, AAUP-DE, the Faculty Senate, the Chairs’ Caucus, the Community Engagement Initiative and SNF Ithaca Initiative. (requires 91Ô­´´ login).

Resisting Indigenous Omission, Developing New Narratives & Building Indigenous Futures — April 21, 2026 — Part of the James M. Jones Distinguished Lecture Series, this event featured Stephanie Fryberg, the Patricia Telles-Irvin Professor of Psychology, the founding Director of the Research for Indigenous Social Action and Equity (RISE) Center, and the Director of the Center for Native American and Indigenous Research (CNAIR) at Northwestern University. She presented her research examining how race, culture and class, especially for Indigenous Peoples, shape identity, well-being and academic success. The event was hosted by the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences.

Wells Lecture: Beyond Survival: Voices of Resilience and Transformation — March 10, 2026 — This event connected to the integrated curriculum offered byÌýWomen & Gender Studies focused on survival, trauma recovery, victim advocacy, and gender-based violence. HostedÌýby the Department of Women & Gender Studies and supportedÌýby the College of Arts and Sciences, 91Ô­´´â€™s Committee on Cultural Activities and Public Events (CAPE) and a grant from the Mellon Foundation’s Affirming Multivocal Humanities program.

Debating Sex: Is Biological Sex Binary? — March 6, 2026 — This question was explored in an academic debate between Tomás Bogardus from Pepperdine University and Agustín Fuentes from Princeton University. Hosted by the Philosophy, Women & Gender Studies, and Anthropology departments with financial support from the Class of 1955 Ethics Endowment Fund.Ìý
