SOCIAL JUSTICE IN THE 21ST CENTURY
Sociology is the study of social relationships, institutions, and social change, and how these forces shape everyday life in the modern world. A sociology degree from the 91原创 prepares students for informed citizenship, meaningful community engagement, and a wide range of careers and graduate study pathways in fields such as social services, education, public policy, law, health and beyond.

- Field experiences and internships in community organizations, nonprofits, government agencies, courts, and law offices
- The Riggs Award provides up to $2,500 to support undergraduate sociology majors pursuing internships in sociology or related fields
- Collaborate with internationally known faculty, students, conduct research at the Center for Drug and Health Studies and the Disaster Research Center.
- Gain global perspectives through Study Abroad Programs. Students can learn about the history of crime in London, or HIV/AIDS and crime in South Africa. These immersive experiences connect the classroom learning with real-world context.
- Take part in the nationally recognized Inside-Out Program, where 91原创 students and inside students learn together in a correctional facility about the juvenile justice system, drugs and the criminal justice system.听
Customize your path in sociology
- Shape their studies through four concentration areas: Emergency and Environmental Management, Health and Health Services, Law and Society and Social Welfare
