Study the Complexities of Population-Level Health

The Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) prepares students to tackle complex population-level health challenges through evidence-based practices, policy development, community engagement, and effective communication. This interdisciplinary program, which follows the accreditation standards of the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), draws on epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy, environmental health, and social-behavioral sciences, while building skills in technical and grant writing, data analysis, and program planning. It will undergo review during the first three years of the degree as part of the CEPH accreditation process. Students culminate their studies with a capstone project and supervised experiential learning that applies theory to real-world settings, such as addressing health equity, chronic disease prevention, or infectious disease control in Delaware and the region.

Graduates of the BS in Public Health are well-positioned to pursue professional certifications that enhance employability, demonstrate specialized competencies, and support advancement into roles in health education, policy, epidemiology, and community health. Recommendations include:

鈼徧 : Offered by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC), this credential validates expertise in health education and promotion.

鈼徧 : Administered by the National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE), this broad credential covers core public health sciences (epidemiology, biostatistics, policy, environmental health, etc.). Eligibility pathways often support recent graduates from CEPH-aligned programs or those with relevant experience.
