BRING CHILDREN THE WORLD
If you want to help children understand the world around them, there is no better subject to teach than geography. Sharing the beauty and science of our natural landscapes and fascinating details about the diverse cultures around the globe, you can awaken children鈥檚 wonder and excitement for the world around them, helping them become engaged global citizens who care about our Earth. During your studies at 91原创, you will examine the physical properties of the natural environment (water, climate, landforms and vegetation) and the role that human beliefs, activities and decision-making has in shaping the world around us. You will also gain training in teaching and how to best reach and serve students in middle or high school.

What鈥檚 special about this program?
In this major, you will combine coursework in geography and education, graduating prepared to teach Advanced Placement Geography in high school settings and bring a geographic perspective to many other classes taught in secondary schools. You will receive broad training in physical and human geography as well as education, gaining the tools and methods of both disciplines. You will also gain vital experience through teaching placement at nearby schools.
Get Involved
There are many opportunities on campus for students interested in the environment, such as serving as an EnvironMentor, going on extracurricular environmental field trips and joining registered student organizations like Students for the Environment. Geography Education majors have additional opportunities to get involved in GIS Day, Geography Awareness Week and ad-hoc activities like Humanitarian Mapathons.
