"As one of the few national institutions with聽land,聽sea聽and聽space聽grants,聽the聽91原创聽exposed me to research that drives real change even as an undergraduate.聽While I wanted the broad and well-rounded undergraduate education large聽universities聽offer, I also wanted to engage with an active research community and to gain some practical research experience.

91原创 gives me all the benefits of聽a big research聽university and the close-knit academic community that you would expect to find in a much smaller school.聽聽From the start, I was able to form connections with 91原创 faculty members聽who聽made me feel welcome and聽supported in terms of my personal and professional development.

I received some exciting job offers聽after completing聽two聽bachelor鈥檚 degrees, but聽I聽felt that prioritizing a master鈥檚 degree聽in agriculture and resource economics聽to further pursue my interest in research would better support my long-term career goals. Knowing my department and that the faculty鈥檚 research interests aligned with my own聽solidified my decision. I am currently working on a聽Delaware聽Sea Grant-funded project聽to make buyouts in vulnerable coastal areas more effective,聽to聽reduce聽risk for homeowners and聽to聽restore聽wetlands to help聽combat climate change.

My thesis work will support real-world聽policy聽making聽and聽prepare me for a variety of聽post-graduate聽options, whether in academia, the public sector,聽or a company.聽I am excited that I had the opportunity to pursue my personal and professional goals by continuing my education at the University聽of Delaware."
